February 24th, 2010

Rattled. Rattled is the one word to describe my current feeling. So freakin' rattled. I have a game that is timed so flipping well that I will be lucky if I get to see the last 5 minutes of the third period. So rattled.

A reports came out awhile ago that Toronto Maple Leaf Mikhail Grabovski was involved in a bar fight while in Vancouver. He was put in jail for the night, and later released to... his parents! I think that is just plain gold. To add insult to injury (no pun intended) his boss, Brian Burke released a statement calling Grabovski stupid. This story is just straight up hilarious if you ask me.

But onto the hockey. The NHL starts up soon, but let's be honest. No one is actually thinking about that.

Canada over Germany 8-2
8-2 just sounds better. Does anyone else agree? I was kinda happy that Klinge was able to put that in late in the third. Canada dominated. The most important thing to this game is the fact that Mike Babcock has seemed to figure out and more importantly settle on a line for their star player, Sidney Crosby. I'm not a big fan of Eric Staal but he has proved to be there, and played well with Sidney last night. Jarome Iginla is an unbelievable player, and played well with him too. Shea Weber scored and interesting goal; not many people knew what happened. Weber managed to fire the puck so hard that it went through it! There was not hole, he just simply put it through. Impressive to say the least.

Switzerland over Belarus 3-2
What a good game to watch. A competitive game. Belarus' goaltender, Andrei Mezin played okayish. As TSN's commutators pointed out time after time, his rebound control was shaky. Belarus managed to to put it into the shootout despite being outshout heavily. While in the shootout, Romano Lemm decided to make up for his earlier penalty, scoring the winner.

Czech Republic over Latvia 3-2
Didn't see this game, but just looking at the score makes me scratch my head. Shouldn't have the Czechs win by a little more that this?

Slovakia over Norway 4-3
A nasty hit took place in this game. Unsure of who the player is that received the hit, but he had an MRI taken and he is fine. Ole Kristian Tollefsen landed the hit.

If Canada wants to win, they'll have to keep the puck down low, and Roberto Luongo will have to be solid. Can't wait to see... the highlights. I'm hoping Switzerland can play the spoiler vs. USA. It would make a good story. It is scoreless in the 2nd, although they are getting outshot quite badly.

All my Best; Enjoy Life
Ryan Francis
